A complete agreement and release outlining payments
will be
sent to you if we're able to accept your submission
or idea.
You will retain copyright of your original work.
UC Books will receive full use rights for your work.
UC Books will edit with you to ensure the finished
piece is true to your vision.
Up to $100 will be paid for each story if UC Books
earns after UC Books profit $10,000 from sales. An
additional 5% share of profit will be divided amongst
each author after UC Books earns additional increments
of $20,000 profit.
Financial Terms: Photographers
Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
And your contribution to sexual imagery is priceless.
But we can only pay you as we earn profits.
A complete agreement and release outlining payments
will be sent to you if we're able to accept your submission
or idea.
You will retain copyright of your original work.
UC Books will receive full use rights for your work,
giving you full name credit.
$25 will be due to you after print publication for
each image that
is selected. An additional $25 will be paid for each
image after UC Books profits $10,000 from sales. An
additional 30% share of profit will be divided amongst
each photographer, ranked by size and number of images
published, after UC Books earns additional increments
of $20,000 profit.
Stories
If writing about your sensuality is your impulse, then
we want to hear from you.
If you don't have a story already written, please
send a query about your proposed story first.
All submissions must be true, and names of people
in the story must be changed, unless the author has
permission from the persons involved to keep their
names. Authors have the option of taking a pseudonym
or using their own name.
Sexual detail and emotion are integral to our stories,
but each story
has its own way of revealing or veiling.
Stories written in the 2nd and 3rd person add to
the project diversity
of voice.We understand most stories are easier told
in the 1st person.
Photos
We want edgy, fine-art, raw, beautiful, different.
Matching the stories or going against the grain.
100% Nude is preferred; decorative additions OK;
Some partial nudes acceptable.
A few studies of objects or nature is great, too.
Send us low res images that you already have that
fit the bill.
If you want to do your own shoot, please contact
us
with your ideas first, as our image needs might change
with the stories accepted for each book.
Submission Overview
UnConventional Books is dedicated to the honest dialogue
of sexuality and society. We value each and every submissions.
We are looking for writers and photographers who choose
to
submit their works to us out of a desire to have their stories
and
images included in our mission-
to add to the artistic and sociological
meaning of sexuality in our culture,
by valuing each individual's
sexual desires and needs as significant.
Our writers, photographers and
models have said how appreciative
they were of the opportunity to work on a project so different
than most. Most of our writers have told Crystal how thankful
they were for our book. That they would not have written
about their sexuality had it not been for the project. Our
photographers have enjoyed their assignments for the opportunity
it's given them and models have experienced an amazing sense
of vulnerability and connection like few other modeling
gigs, as they exposed their nudity for the lens.
Though we have gotten media attention--
and Crystal will always endeavor to promote any of our contributors
who wants media exposure -- our book has been stalled by
bans and a lawsuit in the past. We believe in sharing the
wealth… but only when there is some to go around. Editing,
designing and printing/publishing a book and website are
time consuming and costly. Our finances are dependent upon
grass-roots support. Financial reward for accepted works
is limited and even then is dependent upon each project
being profitable.
So, submitting to UC Books won't make you rich, but the
world might just be richer in appreciating sexuality because
of your contribution.
